On 10th and 11th June 2015, free distribution of stationery items was launched
this year in the Madugiri Taluk of Tumkur District of Karnataka. 3734 students
of class 1 to 12 studying in 41 Government run schools and colleges were
benefited. Though the State Government provides dress, text books and free
noon-meals to the students, the need of stationery items like note books, pen,
pencil, eraser, sharpener and geometry box was not met with. Hence,
Ramakrishna Math, Ulsoor, Bangalore has stepped in and has taken up this
project. A total of 7468 nos. of 100 pages small size note books, 14,936 nos. of
200 pages small size note books, 11,202 nos. of long size note books, 3638 sets
of pencils, erasers and sharpeners and 352 geometry boxes were distributed.
On 15th and 16th June 2015, the service was extended to Gouribidanur taluk of
Chikkballapur Dt. of Karnataka state. Here 5012 students of class 1 to 12
studying in 25 Government run schools and college were benefited. A total
of 2468 nos. of 100 pages small size note books, 11,936 nos. of 200 pages small
size note books, 4502 nos. of long size note books, 1638 pencils, 1578 erasers,
3789 sets of pencils, erasers and sharpeners and 352 geometry boxes were
distributed.
On 29th and 30th June 2015, the distribution of stationery items will be taken up
in Pavagada Taluk of Tumkur District of Karnataka. Nearly 6738 students of 38
Government run schools and colleges will get benefited.
The total cost of the above service has amounted to Rs.16,35,157/-
