Annual Bangalore Book Festival – From 14th to 23rd November

Dear Friends,

As a part of Value Education Programme our Math is participating in various fairs wherein our litereatures are exhibited and ideas regarding the Value Education are counsseled.

Recently we have participated in the Bangalore IT.Biz an International IT Exhibition conducted by the Dept. of IT & BT, Karnataka.
During these occasions our Math is distributing the complementary book “Vivekananda – His Call to the Nation” to all the visitors.

In the month of November our Math is going to participate in an Annual Bangalore Book festival to be held from 14th november to 23rd in Palace Ground, Bangalore. Those who are stationed in Bangalore are cordially invited to visit the stall. (No.125 to 128). About 2 lakh people will be attending this Book Festival. We are planning to give the complimentary books to about 50,000 youths.

It is a nice opportunity to render your valuable service to this noble cause by volunteering and by donating genrously.
Those who are willing volunteer can kindly send the confirmation e-mail by mentioning the date and time of their volenteering in the Book Fair.

Durga Pooja Celebrated on 7th October, 2008

Sri Sri Durga Pooja was celebrated in Aashrama on 7th October. Around 1200 people and 300 Blind students were fed on this day.

Relief  Work : A  Brief  Report  As  ON  1  OCTOber  2008

1. Flood Relief: Our centres in Bihar and other states are continuing their relief operations in affected areas.  Details of the relief materials distributed by them during the last month are given below. 

(a)   Bihar: (i) Katihar 49,800 kg chira, 8584 kg gur, 21,740 packets of biscuits, 4,00,000 halogen tablets, 1700 torches, 1500 chadars, 420 saris, 280 dhotis, 282 mats and 1500 stainless steel utensil sets (each set containing 1 plate, 1 bowl and 1 glass) to 1200 families belonging to Madhepura district which have taken shelter in temporary camps at Rupauli town in Purnea district and 1500 families belonging to Pranpur block of Katihar district.  

(ii) Muzaffarpur 26,620 kg chira, 3105 kg gur, 250 kg sugar, 12,250 kg rice, 600 kg flour, 1870 kg dal, 611 kg chana, 150 kg soya-bean, 150 kg potatoes, 20 kg salt, 154 kg biscuits, 2375 litre drinking water, 1200 matchboxes, 5,31,500 halogen tablets and 42,000 assorted garments to 33,985 flood-affected families belonging to 107 villages of Madhepura and Saharsa districts.  Besides, the centre treated 1240 flood-stricken patients.  

(iii) Patna – 1,50,000 packets of biscuits, 5000 kg milk powder, 5000 kg chhatu, 10,000 steel plates, 10,000 steel tumblers, 10,000 saris, 10,000 dhotis, 10,000 towels and 7,00,000 halogen tablets to 10,000 flood-affected families belonging to Purnea, Madhepura and Supaul districts.  Besides, the centre served cooked food, and distributed 5000 kg chira, 500 kg gur, 40,000 packets of biscuits and 40,000 fruit bars to 1000 families belonging to Fervisganj sub-division of Araria district near Nepal border.  Medical care was also provided.

(b)  Gujarat: Limbdi – 3000 kg bajra, 3000 kg rice, 1200 kg dal, 1200 kg cooking oil, 1200 kg sugar, 180 kg tea and 600 chadars to 600 flood-affected families of a village near Nal Sarovar in Surendranagar district.

(c)   Orissa: (i) Bhubaneswar – 5280 kg chira, 1320 kg sugar, 5280 packets of biscuits, 1320 kg salt, 5280 candles and 5280 matchboxes to 1320 flood-affected families of Pipili block in Puri district, and 1230 school bags, 2460 notebooks, 2460 pens and other study materials to 1230 flood-affected students of 10 schools in Bhadrak and Jajpur districts.  

(ii) Puri Math – 1500 kg rice, 300 kg flour and 300 kg chira to 375 flood victims belonging to 3 villages of Tigiri and Banki blocks in Puri district.

(iii) Puri Mission – 5000 kg chira and 500 kg sugar to 1000 flood-affected families belonging to 13 villages of Gop block in Puri district.

(d)  Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow – 2000 kg chira, 500 kg sugar, 3935 kg rice, 1090 kg flour, 460 kg dal, 4489 kg vegetables, 490 dozen bananas, 1500 saris, 580 dhotis, 900 lungis, 1390 shirts, 1390 pants, 2528 other garments, 940 blankets and 940 mats to 940 flood-affected families belonging to 8 villages of Bakshi-Ka-Talab Tehsil in Lucknow district.  Besides, the centre treated 2341 flood-stricken patients.

(e) West Bengal: (i) Belgharia – 555 saris, 271 dhotis, 571 shirts, 319 pants, 64 sweaters, 1136 children’s garments and 419 blankets to 197 families belonging to 2 villages of Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur districts.  The centre also added 1085 books to the book-banks it had created two months ago in Paschim Medinipur district for the benefit of students whose books had been washed away in the flood.

(ii) Malda – 6008 kg rice, 313 kg dal, 1771 kg potatoes, 600 kg salt, 300 kg sugar and 130 kg biscuits to 558 flood-affected families of 8 villages in Harishchandrapur – II block, Malda district.

(iii) Manasadwip 1802 kg chira and 300 kg sugar to 1236 families belonging to 4 villages of Sagar block in South 24 Parganas district.

(iv) Taki – 3650 kg chira, 523 kg gur, 81 kg biscuits, 36 kg milk powder and 35,000 halogen tablets to 764 families belonging to 8 villages of Minakha block in North 24 Parganas district.

2.       Distress Relief: The following centres distributed various items, shown in brackets, to poor and needy persons: Belgharia (266 saris, 104 dhotis, 427 shirts, 213 pants, 561 children’s garments, 220 blankets and 79 sweaters to 220 families of Naihati and Jaipur blocks in North 24 Parganas and Bankura districts), Garbeta (168 saris, 45 dhotis, 38 lungis, 20 shirts and 20 vests to 120 families), Ichapur (1100 kg rice, 660 kg flour, 220 kg dal, 220 kg coconut oil and 440 kg salt to 220 families of 3 villages in Khanakul – I block, Hooghly district), Kanchipuram (school uniforms to 21 children, notebooks and other study materials to 750 poor students, and 30 tarpaulins to 23 families), Narainpur (school bags, books, notebooks, pens and other study materials to 450 poor students), Puri Math (school uniforms to 97 poor students).

Narayana Seva Started by Ulsoor Aashrama

Narayana Seva

 

As a part of Rural Welfare Programme, our Ashrama has started Narayana Seva. This project is meant to help those who could not afford to purchase the food articles due to the prize hike and poverty.

 

By this project, food articles for the poor lactating-mothers and senior citizens in the remote villages are being distributed.

 

Each family gets

Rice – 10 kgs.

Ragi  – 10 kgs (or) Aatta – 5kgs.

Dal   — 5  kgs

Oil     2  lts.

 

More than 500 families in 19 villages are getting benefited by this scheme.

 

All are invited to participate in this noble service.
